Nathan Hamman

PRINCIPAL/FOUNDER

Nate is President and Founder of Northfield Construction & Development. He is responsible for the company’s day to day business operations including site planning, development, and construction. Nate has been actively developing real estate in the greater Washington DC Market for nearly 20 years. His vast experience successfully navigating the complexities of urban/infill sites continues to give Northfield a competitive advantage in a complex marketplace. 

Prior to joining Northfield, Nate worked for Maronda Homes and Michael Harris Homes, holding both construction and development roles. Originally from Ohio, he is a graduate of the Ohio State University where he earned a degree in Business Management.  


Alon Street

PRINCIPAL

Alon is the head of HAST Holdings, Northfield’s private equity affiliate and HAST Dwellings, a boutique infill builder in Washington, DC. He plays an integral role with the firm’s day to day asset management. He has successfully completed over $100 million in real estate development projects over his career spanning both the Southeast and Mid Atlantic markets.

Alon previously worked for Toll Brothers and US Homes, holding project management and construction management roles.  Originally from Miami, Alon has a Bachelors of Arts from Clark University in Massachusetts and a Masters of Science in Real Estate Finance from Johns Hopkins University.

Kevin Canary

PRINCIPAL

Kevin is responsible for Northfield’s strategic growth, investment management, acquisitions, and capital markets. Prior to partnering with Northfield, Kevin worked at NVR, Inc. where he was most recently General Manager of Land for the Washington, DC region. Additionally, he lived and worked for 7 years in Panama City, Panama where he was Chief Operating Officer with Oceans Group International, a private equity investment/development firm. 

Kevin currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Greater Washington Urban League. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA,  he graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in Business Management.


Greg O’Neal

director of construction

Greg brings extensive construction, auditing, and settlement experience to Northfield, having spent over 13 years at NVR, Inc. working in a variety of positions. Greg started in Settlement, serving as a liaison between the homebuilder, lender, and purchaser. He then spent three years providing oversight assistance and council to management, including market analysis, appraisals, and efficiency analysis and recommendations.

Most recently, Greg served as a construction manager with NVR, Inc. for 8 years where his efforts repeatedly earned him recognition for bringing projects in on time and on budget. On multiple occasions he received regional recognition for his performance as a Project Manager, including a letter of recognition from his company’s CEO. Greg holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Finance from Virginia Tech University.

Rowena Moyer

Director of accounting

Rowena D. Moyer has over 15 years of professional experience in Financial/Accounting Management and Business Operations in Non-Profit and For-Profit organizations.  Prior to joining Northfield, she worked as a consultant with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under the HUD Troubled multifamily housing division in collaboration with The National Housing Trust and Telesis Corporation. Rowena also worked as an Associate Accountant at Kozak, Pollekoff & Goldman, P.C., a Certified Public Accounting firm based in Tysons Corner, VA.

Rowena holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of San Carlos, Philippines and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Benjamin Franklin University of Accountancy, Washington, DC.


Adam Nelson

Director of development

With a focus on developing single family, townhome and condominium communities, including resort and active adult, Adam brings over 15 years of experience in both land development and property management to Northfield. Adam is responsible for overseeing all land development activities, including obtaining plan approvals, budgeting, scheduling, and managing all site work, as well as delivering completed lots and taking projects through the bond release process.

Prior to joining Northfield, Adam was the Division Real Estate Manager and Project Manager for Pulte Homes, responsible for managing the development of all Maryland communities as well as overseeing the set-up and transition of all Homeowner and Condominium Associations in the Mid-Atlantic region. Adam earned a BS in Finance and Economics from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Marcus McLain

Director of Operations

Marcus provides support to the entire Northfield team, both inside our Washington, DC office, and in the field during various stages of land development and construction.


J. Sean O’Brien

project manager

Sean is a tenured construction and development manager with over 35 years of experience. To date, Sean has successfully constructed and delivered nearly 1,000 new homes. He began his career with the Milton Company’s Madison Homes, based out of Vienna, VA, where he held roles as a Customer Service Manager and Project Manager. He then spent 10 years with Michael Harris Homes where he managed large planned unit townhome and single family detached communities throughout Maryland and Virginia. Sean joined Northfield in 2011 and has since led all field operations, onsite construction and development management.

Nate Robins

Development associate

Nate coordinates development activities for Northfield, from pre-settlement through completion. In this capacity, he manages all entitlement, design, engineering, and construction activities. He is adept at scheduling, strategic planning, and directing professional services and construction activities to deliver projects on time and on budget. Nate navigates local government processes and fosters cooperative and effective partnerships with communities and local government. 

Nate's technical background includes an MBA with a concentration in finance, and a Master's Degree in Real Estate Development. He also holds an undergraduate degree in Public Relations. Nate’s creative approach to problem solving has been recognized on a number of occasions, including by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Nate earned First Prize in the HUD Innovation in Affordable Housing – Student Design and Planning Competition (2018).
